Conspiracies and Statistics

The tragic plane crash that killed Polish president Lech
Kaczynski and many others from the political and military top brass of the East
European nation has also stirred some conspiracy theories. This time, at least,
they do not have to do with the Israeli "Mossad". (Oops, what have I
just unleashed?)
It's just so peculiar, all of it: the plane returning from
the Russian repair shop, the unlikely crowd all on a single flight, the
mysterious anniversary date of other crashes, et cetera et cetera.
Statistically unlikely and traumatic - it serves as fair
ground for conspiracies to develop.
Much like hitting the jackpot, only entirely, absolutely and
wholly opposite..
